Dear Parent/Carer,
During the first half of the summer term, year 3 will be covering the following topics:
Numeracy: Understanding number, knowing and using number facts, handling data and time
Literacy: Mystery and adventure and Information texts. Writing an extended story, and using a variety of text types.
Science: Helping plants grow we will be growing our own plants and looking at what they need to survive and what their parts are called.
Geography: A contrasting locality we will be looking at London and comparing it to Folkestone.
ICT: Simulations What can we practice on a computer that is done for real?
PE: Cricket, Tag Rugby and Swimming Please can you ensure your child has the correct PE Kit, for all PE lessons this is becoming a problem.
Music: Ocarinas continuing with this instrument and progressing on to reading musical notation,
Art: Can we Change Places this module looks at sculpture: as usual any boxes, bottles and other materials would be gratefully accepted throughout the term.
RE: Judaism we will be looking at the life of Moses and some Jewish traditions.
French: A Village in France We will be looking at places names and touching on weather.
PSHE: Relationships.
The following homework will be given each week: Literacy, Numeracy, Topic or Science. You should also read with your child throughout the week as this will enhance their learning across the curriculum. As we will be having end of year tests this term homework will not be as frequent to allow the children some recuperation time from the pressure of tests.
Each piece of work that is set should take no longer than twenty minutes and your child should be able to complete this independently. If children regularly have difficulty with homework, please let me know.
I hope this will give you further insight into your childs education.
Yours sincerely,
Mr R. Martin
